International comedian Simon Evans to attend the NOC
Simon Evans was one of only three British comics invited to perform at the prestigious Aspen Comedy Festival, along side Stewart Lee and Eddie Izzard. The previous year saw him receive a highly enthusiastic reception for his Gala set at the famous Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, where he also headlined the Brit-Com package show to great acclaim. Needless to say, Simon is a firmly established attraction on the circuit.
A number of top TV shows have use Simon's talent as a comedy writer including ''They Think It's All Over'' and ''8 Out of 10 Cats''. Simon also writes for some of the UK's top comedy talents including Sean Lock, Dara O Briain and Lee Evans. Simon was on of the creaters and writers of the Dave Channel's Argumental which featured John Sergeant as host along with team captains Markus Brigstocke and Rufus Hound.
Simon Evans still headlines at the Comedy Store and top clubs around the country, from the Glasgow Stand to the Brighton Komedia, as well as selling out shows at the New Zealand and Cape Town Comedy Festivals.
His one man show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe has been running sinse 2000.
As for Simon Evans's style of comedy, one contributor to Chortle.co.uk had this to say about Simon's Comic genius. "Same basis of comedy as Jack Dee, but in my view better than that legend". David Dulieu
Of course, Simon, in deference to his justly famous stable-mate, can only shake his head at the extent of such praise. But still, it provides a handy reference point.
Simon Evans has many TV credits, however, as is often the case, it may be for an appearance in a commercial - in this case, Strongbow Cider - that Simon was best known, or at least most immediately recognisable. He always has TV projects in development which he hopes will enable him to build on this ill-gotten fame.
Simon's talents have been put to good use on both television and radio. He wrote for Johnny Vaughan Tonight and The State We're In. He was overall script editor on Revolver (BBC1) and script consultant on The Live Floor Show (BBC2) and Radio Rivron (Radio 2)
A favourite of Radio 4 - Simon has hosted and written seven series of spoof news show The Way It Is (as Richard Richard), as well as appearing on numerous panel games and discussion programmes.
He's appeared on the Comedy Store (Five) and The Stand Up Show (BBC1) but 2010 came in with his first appearance on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Road Show then in 2011 we saw Simon Evans's first foray into mainstream comedy quiz shows, with an appearance on Dara O Briain's Mock The Week. Simon sat on Andy Parson's team alongside Micky Flanagan.
Simon Evans has now firmly established himself as one of the UK's top comedians and as we might say "the eyes have it!!".
''A comic at the top of his game and wreaking of experience.''
